Setting Goals and Future Plans
What do you want out of life? What experiences do you want to have? What do you want to accomplish? What do you want to be able to do?
These seem to be some of the most difficult questions that I ask my clients. Most folks are so engrossed in their everyday grind that they’ve forgotten to think and dream about what they are working toward.
It takes some work, and some pushing from my end, but eventually I get some answers to my questions. Most commonly, I hear things like “retire”, “retire early”, “buy a house”, “upgrade our house”, or “travel”…the safe stuff that everyone thinks I want to hear, but isn’t really meaningful to them.
Then there’s the rare client who shares a meaningful goal… “I want the freedom to quit my second job.” “I want to go to Paris before I’m 40.” “I want to go dog sledding in the Arctic.”
Which group to you think is more likely to reach their goals?
Letting yourself dream is the first step to making your dreams come true…
